By implementing the Wave Timer, line crews can quickly determine the sag, tension, and temperature in a line while they are building it. This ensures that the line is properly sagged and will not overstress the power pole. Overstressed power poles lead to pole failures which can result in expensive liability for electric utilities.
The Wave Timer utilizes the return wave method of sagging conductors to quickly determine sag and tension in a power line. The Wave Timer connects to smartphones via Bluetooth to display sag, tension, and line temperature data.
Once data has been recorded, a PDF document can immediately be saved. This document provides documentation of sag, tension, temperature, location, time of day, and many other important data points gathered. With one click, utilities can prove the power line was constructed to the standards with which it was designed.
